What makes tvala lotion different?
First, I'll explain what a lotion is: Water and oils/ butters. (if you want all the buttery conditioning goodness without the water, you may skip this post and go directly here.). Lotions are made in different percent ratios, from anywhere from 80% water to 60% water, with the remainder being the oils/ butters, fragrance, thickeners and emulsifier ('emulsify' is the word for when you make the water and oil stick together). There's as many different formulas and ratios as there are formula makers.
Since I love the way the actual oils and butters feel on my skin (and I think most would agree!), I've worked out a formula that has a higher percentage of oils (which means less evaporating water, and since there's a good amount of thick shea butter included, it also means less thickeners are needed). I've chosen oils that are famous for being extremely beneficial for your skin (olive: rich, smooth moisturizer--a classic! Sunflower: light, easy absorbency, rich in essential fatty acids. Shea butter: superb emollient; perfect for soothing and replenishing dry skin.) and added some honey (a natural humectant) and aloe juice (more soothing, hydrating goodness).
After countless formulations involving these ingredients, tweaking it one percent at a time this way and that (that's the funnest part, you know) I have a lotion formula that I (and my testers) are very happy with. The best part? It's actually good for your skin! Unlike some store lotions you may buy and have to 'slather' it on by the cup full (since it's mostly water and cheap thickeners to make up for the lack of butters and oils), which gives you that instant satisfaction of hydration but then leaves your skin thirsty an hour later, believe me when I say 'a little goes a long way' with this lotion. It's full of the Good Stuff and I think you'll love it, too. Now, the only problem is: what to do with all that Bath and Body Works you won't want to use any more? (you know who you are.....)
(and PS, don't you just love this 'lotion' picture? It's one I'm working on for my daughter who struggles with eczema....It reminds me of those DQ Blizzard commercials where they hold the cup upside down to show how thick it is.....can your lotion do that? ;) )
