Thank goodness for test batches
It's good to make a trail batch when I'm going to change something about a soap recipe. Also, if I'm trying a new fragrance, a 1 pound batch is the perfect size.
I tried a new fragrance that smelled like it had good potential OOB (out of the bottle), 'Green Cactus', which held promises of smelling wonderfully "clean, green & fresh", "not like any other". Unfortunately, when I got it into the soap and it started to heat up, the nausea hit. It was overwhelmingly similar to another fragrance I had tried a long time back, and had spilled about 2 ounces of. The fragrance wasn't one I particularly liked much to begin with, but after spilling it I had to pitch all the soaps I made with it; I couldn't stand it. So, I was disappointed when my Green Cactus smelled quite a bit like Green Garden, and I am just so glad I had only a small bottle of it and made a teeny batch of only 4 bars....I'll be getting rid of those bars quick. (Did I say 'getting rid of'? I mean, handing out for unsuspecting friends to test.... :) )

I did the same thing with a FO several months ago (used way too much in a batch by accident), and gagged when I opened the bottle again. Ugh. Good luck getting rid of it! ;)
