Show Report

Despite the name of the town being 'Snowflake', it was pretty hot at the show this weekend! I knew it would work to our advantage, though, you could smell the soaps fromPioneer Day craft show, Snowflake, Arizona, 2008. all over.

Friday was a bit slow, but we managed to keep a good pace throughout the day. There just weren't too many people out; it seemed as if there were as many vendors as shoppers! Still, tough, like I said, we made good headway towards our weekend goal.

Saturday, we watched the parade from the booth (which was awesome!) and then when the last float went past, the floodgates opened and there were people shopping everywhere!

My SIL and I had a great time chatting and meeting lots of people from all around the state. (In the pictures, my SIL is the brunette and I am the blond). Around lunchtime, we met our goal and so the rest of the day was just icing! In the end, we managed to pull off boothX5. Considering after talking withPioneer Day craft show, Snowflake, Arizona, 2008. other vendors there who didn't sell a thing all weekend, I was prettyPioneer Day craft show, Snowflake, Arizona, 2008. happy overall. DD was ecstatic about selling all but 2 of her lavender sachets that she handstiched, and saved every penny she earned to buy a horse necklace charm from the booth next to us. I didn't point out to her she lacked a necklace to put it on....

The crowd's favorite soaps from the show: Castaway, Bayside, Oatmeal Milk and Honey, Serenity, Sandalwood Vanilla Spa Sticks, Pink Sugar Wafer, Grass Stained Blue Jeans and Cold Hard Steel, just to name a few. Really, though, they all did well!

The soap barn DH built for me did great, as well. It brought the soaps up to a nice height for touching and smelSIL and I working hard to organize all my handmade soaps. Over 20 varieties stocked the soap barn shelves!ling (which people were very excited to do!) and it was easy to keep them organized. We stored all the 'spare parts' inside it, out of sight. I love the set up we have settled on, it gives people lots of room to walk around, and in a small space we are able to stock several hundred bars at a time. I much prefer it to the folding tables and table cloths I see so often.

So, all in all, a wonderful weekend! I owe a bunch to my SIL for helping out, and of course my DH and BIL who took over for an hour so we could have a lunch break. Maybe we should have let them manage the rest of the day, though, seeing as how they sold 19 bars in that hour. ;)

These are great photos of the week-end. I understand much better how the booth functions and how perfect the design is. It is really, really classy. Your booth location couldn't have been better -- hope you get the same space next year. I hope you DO go to the Corn Festival in October -- it will at least be cooler. And you will have camo and tweed soap to sell to the "reluctant" men!!

I really love your presentation--the barn is so cute! And the soap, of course, looks so yummy. I'm so glad the show went well.
